Ooookay, lots of stuff from the past week.. *laughs* really, I should update more frequently, I know, sorry... Anyway, yeah. Friday night, went to see Our Town with Britty, cos Haruna's in it and all... and oh my goodness, we were *blown away*. I'd not seen the show before, but it was really good, and it was *so* well done - Britt, who had seen it done before, by more professional groups than ours, said it was easily the best she's ever seen it done. One of Haruna's favourite professors, Ted Sharon, had the lead role of the stage manager, and... wow. *laughs* That one word is our quote-list entry from the night, cos when we got back, and Haruna got back, Britt and I just stood there talking it over with her, and saying how amazing it was - Britt'd started crying at the end of the second act, and was *still* crying an hour after it ended, just, it was incredible.. and we'd start out all coherent, but finally, we were just at such a loss for words over this, we'd be reduced to "...wow." *g* Saturday was our suite-trip to Six Flags (*chucks a rock at them, pesky mega-corperate bastards*) Darien Lake, ended up being Britt, Meghan (who's not in our suite but hung out with us a lot last year, so Britt invited her) (and it occurs to me that I don't know if that's how you spell her name, but that's how I'm used to spelling it now so that's how it is *giggles*), Jen, Erica and I. And the rain. And the cold. *laughs* It was really a lot of fun, we had a good time, went on like, I think all the rides that were *open* - about a third of the park was closed off. And we wandered about their little ghost-town thing, and watched..a really, poorly-done "show"..ok their dancing sure was great, but.. they killed lots of good songs. and there was barely a plot. and the singing was bad. and there were SO many little kids there and there was SO much that wasn't the sort of thing little kids should see. which pissed the hell outta me. >_< But there was no haunted house, *or* haunted hayride, like there was last time I went at Hallowe'en...but then, that was before Six Flags took over. blah. cos they were both friggin' *awesome*... But yeah, so rides, and stuff, and fun.. and then Jen wanted to go into the arcade and play skee-ball. And I... oh my freaking goodness, I think I really *DO* have a problem. Cos like, I was *really* flipping out that I didn't have the money to play ddr--- oh wait, lemme tell that story first. I had $7 or $8 total cash left - my first paycheck FINALLY comes on Friday. So I grabbed the $5 in case I needed food, brought it with. Was standing in line with Jen while she was getting fries, decided I'd just get a corn dog cos they were cheap and right there and I didn't wanna wander around forever looking for the fried dough I'd originally wanted. So I pull my money out of my pocket, went to unfold it... ... it WASN'T MONEY. It was this *damn* little pseudo-bill that was actually a little tract-thing some random lady handed to everyone in line for Hanson in Buffalo. I'd kept it, cos instead of resizing the image for the back, they'd just spliced out the middle, so it said 'Five Lars', which, of course, amused me to no end. *Why* the *HELL* I'd left it in my WALLET is beyond me. >_< So I'd grabbed that, thinking it was $5. And it wasn't. So Jen was a sweetheart and bought me a corndog cos I was starving. But, thus, I had *no money*. And there... there was the DDR Extreme machine, waiting, alone, only the occasional little boy trying to pass a 2 on it. I seriously wanted to like, cry, it was insane. Y'know how you felt when you were a little kid and couldn't go do something you REALLY wanted to do, or get, or whatever? like, I dunno, you're at the playground and you haven't had a chance to go down your favourite slide yet and you have to go home. It was like *that*, I hadn't felt that since I was like nine, y'know?? it was icky, I don't like it. And it *scared* me - I'm *that* addicted??? So after playing around on the drum simulator-thing (which looks cool but is intimidating - they *don't* show you what to play, it just plays the song and you play whatever you want. uhhhh, no. bad idea.), Erica lent me a dollar to play DDR. And I spazzed and rejoiced and was sooooo happy! So I get up there, and.. I'd been trying to console myself earlier with the fact that my shoes and feet and bottom half of my jeans were SOAKED THROUGH, so I wouldn't play as well as I could anyway... so yeah, I get up there, and bounce and am all happy, go to Standard mode, and go to Dam Dariram. Which is a six, and I've beaten *maaaaany* many times since that first time on that very machine over the summer. And I was *rocking* it, doing *perfect*..until it hit the four-sets, where you've gotta hit all four arrows right in a row as eight-notes. Which normally isn't a problem for me at that speed, I can manage it. Only... I slipped. Which threw me off, my feet got off-place on the arrows, I kept missing them.. slipped again, and again, not falling but nearly and getting scared and missing more arrows and--- I *FAILED*. And I seriously very nearly cried, I felt like SUCH an ass...... but I figure it's cos I didn't have enough self-discipline to not be all upset and actually borrow money from someone and--- yeahhhhh. Pride goeth before a fall or whatever applies here... bah. >_< But, I was fine, Britt reminded me that I *did* look really good up to that point, and I *was* wet and slipped which was out of my control.. and anyway, it's not like anyone was watching but maybe these two little third-grade boys who couldn't pass 2s, so whatever. *g* So, yeah, hung out, it was cold, but very, very pretty, all the lights around shining in the puddles all over the black pavement once it got dark... headed back about 7.30 or so cos we'd done everything there was to do and didn't feel like waiting in the Superman line again. This afternoon was the choral concert over in King Concert Hall, and it was *very*, very good, as always, the chamber singers and the choir really *are* amazing.. one of the songs they did was an arrangement of a Japanese folk song, which amused all of us cos Haruna was with us. ^_^ There was this really pretty Italian one, the translation was in the program and Haruna read it over and called my attention to it, I said yeahhh... University Chorus, tho, did two songs CCHS's done of late... "Jenny Rebecca", which we did with Goodling - thus, I remembered *every* note of it *still* *laughs*, and had to try hard to *not* sing along, and "The Road Not Taken" from the Frostiana set..which we did "Choose Something Like a Star" from, and I think they did "Road Not Taken" the year after I graduated. (Not to be biased, but I think we did a better job... but then, you've got a group of a few hundred people up there trying to sing a lullaby? no. *laughs*) Afterwards, we hurried back here, Britt got changed, and we headed over to the William's Center cos this Youngblood Brass Band was gonna be playing, Britt'd heard a few songs in her musics of the world class and I'd heard about them in band, and we decided to go. Stopped downstairs to get some dinner for starving-little-me, then went up to listen... And oh my freaking *goodness*, they were AMAZING. Like.. they're a brass band, it's a few trumpets and trombones and a sax and a friggin' *sousaphone* and a bass and snare drum... but they're *amazing*, first off, and then the snare drummer raps thru about half the songs, but it's good rap where you can understand the words and they're *good* and they have *meaning* and it all worked tho it doesn't sound like it would, it... wow. We were *blown away*, really. Neeeed a cd, esp. since they're mad hard to find on Kazaa or winmx. And neither Britt nor I had the cash to buy a cd tonight. >_< Their site, btw, is here, go check it out.. I haven't just yet, but I'd think there's gotta be soundclips somewhere. They're touring the NE right now, so if any of y'all hear about them coming near you, GO, cos they're amazing. ^___^ So, yeahhhh... hopefully things'll calm down again the next few days, cos I've a Hallowe'en costume to do maaaad tons of work on. And I canNOT spend a friggin' *DIME*, cos I have *just* enough for laundry tonight and the brass ring for my halo from WalMart. And that's IT. ^^;;;;; ..just holdin' out for Friday.....
