We are out of our fucking minds.
We're going to try to get the Nintendo Wii on release day (Sunday at midnight).
I happened to stop by WalMart on the way home from work tonight...
And there are people camping in line.
Only like six, ten at most, but, still.
So, somehow, we're getting over to WalMart soon as the bus starts up, we'll be there at 9, 9.30, it's at 10am that WalMart lets people start lining up inside at the Layaway desk. I have work from 1-9, so I'll have to leave awhile... The Wii goes on sale at midnight. Poor Tom is going to be stuck there for like fifteen hours.
...we've gone back and forth on this a LOT, but, we really want the damn thing (we're going halves on it, and that's our Christmas presents to each other), and Tom's concluded that it's going to be really difficult to hunt one down once it hits the shelves. (As he pointed out, demand is going to be more prolonged than for the PS3 and Xbox360, as it's the cheapest, and the ones parents are going to be getting for their kids and things, while the others were pounced on by the gamers.) But, if the line has like 50 people by the time we're there in the morning, we might well just say fuck it, I don't know. Tom's antsy about the fact that he's leaving for Long Island at like 6.30 on Monday, and this's going to throw him off (and add another nerve-wracking thing, when he already gets really tense and things about travelling), and I'm ansty about the fact that, apart from work tomorrow, I have to be at work again 9.30am on Sunday, and there's no way we're getting back before like 2am that night.
So, it'll be a bit of an adventure, if we go for it. I feel so bleary just thinking about it... waiting on a line for GA at a U2 show is one thing, at least the people are awesome - the people in line tonight, who I stopped to talk to for a minute to see what was up, seemed kinda sketchy. I'm not like worried or anything, Tom's going to be there the whole time, I'll only be there part of it (and lord knows he can take care of himself and then some), but, I hate that he'll have to be there alone for eight hours. But I can't just call in sick or anything, it's such a small place that everyone scheduled is really *needed* there.. I can't ask someone to cover for me, as pretty much everyone is scheduled for some part of a Saturday already, and I can't cut out early or anything because there's only three of us there for the last few hours, which's less than usual lately, and the bare minimum to handle things. (Granted, the two I'll be there with would totally let me slip out a lil early, but, really it'd be quicker to just have them drop me off at WalMart at 9.)
..and I need to get to bed, Tom's already gone and I promised to be up there soon, as well I should be. Wish us luck!!!
