Sooo... am at my first night of work. The cleaning-lady, Heidi, is sick, so she's gonna let me go like mad early (shhh!). But for now I'm killing time 'til she gets back from eating, cos she told me to sweep up all the cigarette butts from the steps in front of the building, then wait in the computer lab 'til she comes to get me. So here I am. Whee for computer labs. *g*
Anyway, yeah. I'm working in Houghton Hall.. and the custodial-dude who brought me over here pronounced it "Howton". *twitch* ..'least that makes *sense* tho - you can tell people aren't from the area when they refer to it as "Hewton". (Which makes me think of Hewson so it's a little amusing but *still*, how d'you get "Hewton" from "Houghton"?? okno.)
But yeah, it was a little crazy cos he drove us over here from Alumni in one of the great big Fredonia-vans, and he's all like, let's be a little illegal and drove over the sidewalks. *giggles* I mean, the vans and stuff do it all the time but still. It's random. And it felt a little unsafe but y'know..
I think they're gonna have me wash down the stairs and then let me go for the night. That'd be cool, cos I'm still gonna get paid *heheh*. *g* ..I think. I have this constant paranoia that there's something about this whole work-study thing I'm not getting cos like, I filled out generic paperwork, told them what nights/times'd be good for me (but already that's changed - Heidi's like, oh, but 11's so late! come in after your class gets out, and we'll say you'll work from 6.30 to 10.30 but you'll work from whenever you get here until 10. I'm like, ehm, oksure. So what I'm gonna do about dinner I'm not entirely sure yet, but y'know.. but I don't eat lunch 'til before band at 4 anyway, so I'll be fine, really I could just go grab some food at willic whenever. s'all good.
The janitor-guy is a few colours short of a set of crayons, I think. Heidi seems nice enough. But I have issues understanding either of them, cos Heidi's got a maaad like, Jewish-NYC accent. But I'll catch on, I know. And really, it's not gonna be a bad job once I'm just taught what to do, it'll be easy enough and whatever. And it's fun being in school-buildings afterhours.
hmmmhmhmmmm..... I've *noooo* idea when I'm gonna have to go, so we're killing time now. *g* Actually, I could try and get on aimexpress and see if anyone's on, but..
