duuuude, on the site I stumbled across picture-hunting for that pesky request-desktop I did awhile back, U2 with all the city lights and things.. anyway it's this site with ooold postcards of places and it kicks ass and they SO have cards from Chili and Churchville! *laughs* gogo. too fecking cool.

oh nothing makes me happier than my itunes on shuffle. as I'm sitting here trying to decide how to describe Bono's tear-filled eyes in my story, the theme from "skippy the bush kangaroo" comes up.

I don't think I've ever heard two great songs that gel together so incredibly well.
Downloaded this track, U2 vs. A-ha, The Sun Always Shines on a Beautiful Day, done up by..*checks*..Barry McDermott.

Ignoring the stupid little random voice clip at the beginning and end, holy shit is this the coolest thing I've downloaded in awhile. Slowed up "Beautiful Day" a bit, I don't *think* they changed the key on either song though I could be wrong..but holy crap do the songs fit together! I just wouldn't've thought of it on my own, though I have both songs ("BD" and "The Sun Always Shines on TV").

..also of note, I *FINALLY* managed to download U2's cover of the Ramones' "Beat on the Brat", which they did for a tribute album awhile back. It's so funny, it's totally a babyU2 song to do, and I can hear traces of little-them in this, but there're all these sonics layered over it...and Bono's voice is worlds away from where he began. *smiles* ..though, actually, I think babyBono's voice would be better suited to Ramones, present-Bono *sings* things. *giggles* It's funny though, the whole song sounds like they're... ... ...*laughs* I wanna say some recent band heavily influenced by 70s punk but uhm, hi, that's what they are. Like something off the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack. we'll leave it at that. *g*

..anyone ever tries telling me U2's gone all laid-back, let me know and I'll go kick the shit out of them. then play something like this. ^_^

Words in black and white, describing the places where the two entwine and become indistinct...

And there aren't enough good synonyms for "dark", "darkness". *giggles* I mean really. Thing is, I *like* the word "dark", I *like* the word "light", quite a bit. But then I re-read a page and realise I've used one or both like 436829 times. And that can't stay.

(It occurs to me that I could get myself some new imagery to play with...but I liiike these, dark and light, angels fallen and un-, they're both simple and eternal, endlessly deep...)

But twilight is different than darkness, as is murkiness, dusk, gloom, shade.. eclipse I like, but can only be used in some contexts, black is worse than dark, caliginosity and crepuscule I like quite a bit...but if *I* had to look them up, no-one's gonna have a fecking clue. (Not that I'd neccesarily let that stop me, goodness knows "incarnadine" is permanently worked into my vocabulary now and shows up in like every Mackie fic.. *g*)

..gorgeous night here, a bit chilly (61..which's fine if you're not in a skimpy lil tanktop, pj pants and bare feet *giggles*) but the moon's near-full still, stars are out, a few clouds spread artistically about the sky...

I highly doubt anything I tried taking with my camera will come out, but hey, worth a shot. *g*

But yeah Daf and I just sat around at the end of my driveway, talking, for like three hours. Hurray for summer. ^_^

despite the raised alert in the farthest part of the state from here which made us two hours late.. *giggles, shaking head*
..I'm home, safe, in one piece, madinsanelytired but otherwise not bad.

unless the xray really DID kill my film (800 speed..at the JFK airport, they told me that anything under 800 was safe..here in Charlotte [wow I *am* tired, I forgot how that's spelled *giggles* not that those of us who live here pronounce it that way anyway..never did know why] in the middle of nowhere they tell me everything under 1000 is..), as I fear it may've despite what they tried telling me. damnfeckinglazypeople who won't even take five seconds to handle a camera and film canisters and see that they're not bombs. good lord. -_-;

..I did double-parenthesising again. I promise I'll shut up and go to bed now, and save details on the day for after I've had some sleep.

despite heading to bed at like 10.30 and having light off by 11-something...
I haven't the faintest what time I actually fell asleep, but judging by the fact that I heard neighbor-with-big-noisy-truck drive in? yeah I'm guessing it was around 2am. let's just pretend I dozed off a lot in that time, cos Mel def. woke me up at 5.15.

well, here's for Toronto, hope I can keep my eyes open enough to see some of it~

(for those who don't know, earlier this week mom&grandma decided it was today that we were gonna take *sparkle* the fast ferry* *sparkle sparkle* to Toronto for the day. granted, it'll be cool seeing the city..however the time does not excite me, nor does this supposedly wonderful ferry just yet.)
