Bono wrote up an article for the Washington Post earlier this week, prior to Bush's State of the Union address...it's really cool. ^_^ (And I take delight in the littlest things - article title and summary, then "by Bono"...at the end, they give a short blurb as to who he is...*g* cuteness!)

u2.com's got Bono's response to it, as well..generally good. yay! ^_^ (You can either find it on u2.com easily enough, or just the article (taken out of its frames and all) is here.)

*smiles* Yay Bono!!!! ^_^

1.30.2003

Hey, here we go! Fusion. ^_^

*sighs*
...amazing how quickly everything can change...
...Erin and Britty both decided they're headed home for the weekend..will be here long enough to meet peeps, but..*shrugs* ah well - as they pointed out, I'll have people here to keep me company, so it's a good weekend to head home.
Thing is...Daf's parents have, once again, overreacted...and cos she stayed up on the cpu too late, she can't come now.
*spazzes and hits something*
blah.
...I'm just hoping Laur and Zinni can still come - it was Daf's mom who was bringing them down..... *praying things don't change still *more* on us!*

*sad sigh* ...Daffy, I'm so sorry....I really wanted to get to see you......... (but don't blame yourself too much..well, ok, true, you coulda gotten off..but still, the punishment isn't fitting the "crime" (such as it is/isn't)...blah.)
But I'll see you soon.....

Oof...again, with the mind-numbingly basic classwork. Ah well. Gives me time to poke about online. *g*
..now, if I could just remember what I was gonna write--!

Well...I'll just start writing, and see if I remember. *g*
College is great...except, y'know, weekdays, where it's just a blur of classtime and naptime..which isn't horrible, but... ('course, this might not be the case if I got to sleep prior to, y'know, 3, 4am---! oops. ^^; )
I think Erin and I are getting better at ping-pong..playing up and down the hall on the way to the lobby is fun. *g*
We tossed a ping-pong ball at Britty. While she was in the shower. It was rather amusing. *hehe*
Haruna and I are getting along really well, which's cool.. the one night, Britty and I were battling with our giant candycanes again (she tried to kill me cos I left happy li'l messages for her all over her computer), and in the middle, Haruna leapt into the room, brandishing a clothes-hanger. It was great. *G*
She dressed up in a Japanese kimono-type thing last night for activites night - she looked so cool! it was awesome. she and I and Britty took silly pictures.

Meh. I don't want to learn about headings in html...they're stupid. The textbook keeps talking about how you, as the Web weaver, control only the content, not the format, so simply focus on content.
*grrrrr*
I'll fuck with the format if I *want* to! Hell, I spent *hours* fighting with the format on this thing, that's why it took me forever...and *I* say it was worth it. If this looks nasty on Netscape, well fuck it - Netscape sucks anyway. (And hey, my book taught me why - AOL's the parent company. *shudders*)

Hrm. I really *did* have something else I wanted to write on here..but I can't remember. Damn. >_<

Well, in any case... Daf and Laur and Zinni are all coming to visit --- TOMORROW!!!!! w00007!!!!! :D
..good timing, too - Erin and Britty are both headed home for the weekend (tho this is partly cos they know I'll have people here to hang out with). *g*

Oh, geez...I've gotta update Desert Songs, I've a bunch of new desktops...
And guess what? ..lookout world - Megs realised she's got Frontpage - SuperEdge is bound to return..again..and again.....oh dear, oh dear. ^____^

So, again, I'm putting off homework...but I'm too excited right now!

I'm hoping we're not the only ones who watched the State of the Union address tonight - it was great. ^_^

WE'RE GOING TO HELP AFRICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*huge grin*

*dances about the room happily*

YAY!!!!!!!!! ...*hehe* They *finally* listened to my Bono. ^_^

So, yeah. Lessee...there was a lotta stuff on health care, education, stuff like that...which I haven't really been following, so I can't say much...but he talked about this plan to set up mentors for troubled jr. high kids, and children whose parents are in prison..which we thought was kinda nice. Talked about tax cuts..right, I'm not holding my breath - every year Dad gets hit harder and fucking harder with taxes, he works just a bit harder and has a good year and then winds up a bracket higher, and gest fucking nailed. blah. And Bush talked about eliminating all unneccesary gov't spending..which..*could* be good, but I know they'll cut foreign aid before they cut anything away from their own wallets. meh.
But that was about all that was bad. He surprised us a bit..and spoke out against partial-birth abortion (YAY! a step in the right direction, at last!), and also asked for legislation again human cloning. PERIOD.
Thank God.
Talked about the situation in Korea and stuff..said they've gotta stop this nuclear shite, period. And I agree, but...oof. That's still touchy there..
And then, the highlight of the evening - highlight of my week -- almost my *year* so far!
He started talking about Africa.
And about how horrible the situation there is...people dying from AIDS, the impossibly huge numbers...and he was spouting off the same numbers I've heard from Bono's sweet lips so many, many times...
But here it is for *EVERYONE* to hear, at long last. The millions dying and infected...millions of *children* infected...and out of all of these million, *maybe* 50,000 can get any medication. Out of like, 7 million or more, I think, something like that. That's *so* wrong.
He said the cost for a year's worth of care for an AIDS patient has, in the last few years, gone down from $1200 to $300.
And we - this country - have an amazing opportunity to do incredible amounts of good here. We have it within our grasp to save these people - this whole continent.

And he pledged a *lot* of money to that end. (I don't know the exact amount, but I ignore the huge numbers cos they're all just unreal..who *has* $5 billion dollars? I mean really. There's never really that much actual cash or anything changing hands. But I digress.)

...my eyes honestly did start misting up, I nearly cried...I was so happy. Finally, people know about this...and finally, it looks like something's going to be done.
^_________________^

After that, he got into the Iraq-thing...well, actually, he talked about Iran, too, which was interesting. ...and he told of some of the tortures these countries use.....and it's horrifying...and all I could do was nod sadly - I've heard all this before, for years, from Amnesty. *sighs*

There was something else I was *really*, really excited about, though. He talked about looking for alternative sources of energy - like hydrogen-powered cars. Dude, have you any idea how impossibly fucking *AWESOME* that'd be???? It'd solve SO many of our problems!!!!! Pollution, damned Iraq, all sorts of stuff. ^_^ Gah. I'm so psyched. Can't wait for the future, baby. ~_^
Dream up the world you want to live in, and dream out loud, at full fucking volume. ^_^

But yeah. So, Iraq. He didn't come straight out and say we're off to war..but he came about as close as I think he could. (And Britty and I were sitting there, just yelling "C'MON! JUST SAY WE'RE GONNA GO KICK HIS ASS!!!!!!!!") But he went into, like, just how many weapons and all Saddam's got. Holy shit. It's *bad*...we've *known* for certain he had enough to kill millions, and there's no evidence he got rid of any of this stuff. People have been bribed to pose as the scientists in charge, and lie to the UN inspectors...and..damn. Seriously, though, the man's got a shitload of weaponry there. And he was trying to get uranium from Africa - there's, uh, not a whole lot of things you can use that stuff for...
(Bush asked, rhetorically, what Saddam could be stockpiling all this for? "Whaddya *THINK* he's gonna use it for??? You don't like, sleep with a nuclear bomb under your pillow, in case a robber breaks in!!!" "Fido! Go fetch the nuclear bomb!")
There's to be a UN meeting on Feb.5, which I'll have to remember to watch for - Colin Powell's gonna bring a lot of the info we've gotten on Iraq to the UN, and I guess try to get something going here...
..but getting the UN to agree to war isn't gonna be easy.
Not that it'll stop us - that was another thing Bush'd said, was that we can stand on our own, we're not gonna wait on the rest of the world.

We're such stubborn sons-of-bitches here, we really are. You don't mess with us. We're really, really, evil motherfuckers if you mess with us. And we're damned stubborn, we won't give in.
Yay for being American! *laughs*

Oof. Sorry again for the long delay in updates...but for one thing, y'know that giant nasty worm virus that hit over the weekend? yeah. It nailed Fredonia, took us *all* offline. Really sucked...cos, as Haruna said, "It's our only joy!" meh.
But, back again now. ^_^
So I'm sitting here in my Internet and Web programming class.....and we're going over the basics. Like, what a URL is..how addresses work..what html code is and that it makes web pages...
Yeah.
Like, the first chapter of the book that we had to read? It went through, in detail, what links are. 9_9
..really *does* assume you know nothing. meh. *g* So there are some days, like today, I'll be bored out of my mind. Ah well..am picking up some nice details, like the specifics of IP nubers and silly little things like that. And skimmed thru the book last night, and I was seriously, like, drooling - it's great, there's some java and stuff in there...came with this whole reference book, with the tags to do fucking EVERYTHING, a nice colour chart (tho it's missing my blue!), just a shitload of stuff that I have *no* idea what it does. Frickin' awesome.
I'm such a geek! w007! ^_^

Have been mullin' (*hehe* Mullen! ^___^) over some things to post on here...should be something worthwhile..uh..sometime? ^^;

Oh, and I apologise..seems my graphics are gone again. Will fight with Boomspeed again later.
