Also, when I got back to the house, ran into Meghan taking out garbage.. casually apologised for the flour left on the counter, saying the dough'd gotten everywhere and I cleaned everything but missed that one bit, she laughed a bit and said it was ok, Justin'd written the note.. but like, implied I think that she'd thought he overreacted a bit maybe. I hope. In any case, before I left for the post office, I swept up the few sprinkles and crumbs that'd been left in the nooks beneath the counters, and cleared up the flour. *happy sigh* Well I feel worlds better. I *love* Fredonia. So much. ^_____________^ Went to the post office where people are always generally friendly and nice and things and mailed things to Megs. :) Then I stopped by at the Barker Museum for a bit, to see what their hours were, and to see if I could get into the upstairs to get a picture I want for the background image on my project for Web Interactivity (blog for that class is here, if anyone's interested in my ramblings *g*).. Nosed around the pretty little Victorian room a few minutes, taking a few discreet photos (there's no signs saying not to, but I get all shy taking pictures ^^; idk why), and one of the older women working there walked up to say hello and things. Told her I was looking around for some inspiration on a story I was doing for a class project, centering around a few students at the Fredonia Normal School (the old college) in 1900, just before the fire.. and next thing I knew she was telling the two other people working there about it (who got all excited that I'd signed their guestbook already *giggles* it was cute), and I was led into a little room to the side fiiiiilled with old files and books and things, where one of the women (Mary *makes note to remember this*) pulled out a folio of old photographs...class pictures, dating back into the 1800s. ^____________^ We flipped through those awhile, and then she pulled out a little thing of files.. tooons of old papers from the Normal School, programs for plays and commencement and all sorts of things.. all the while, she's telling me what other sorts of things they have around, and that I'm welcome to come in anytime they're open and look around, if anyone questions me to tell them she gave me leave.. I was so overwhelmed. ^_________________^ I didn't really look through anything yet, I realised I needed my sketchbook with to take notes and things, but I think I'll go back tomorrow afternoon, when the upstairs ought to be open, and look around and immerse myself in the town a hundred years past... <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 *sighs* So I forgot to wipe some flour I'd spilled off the counter last night, and got left a pissed-off note saying This is ridiculous! Doing dishes is one thing, but if you make a mess clean the counters and sweep the floor.. etc. I forgot *once*. And normally? I'm the *only* one who's wiped the counters or stovetop clean. >_< So now I feel like shit... *giiiiggles* My Bono-handwriting is getting a little too good, it scares me in places... I definitely spent too much time analyising his handwriting in the htdaab book. ^^; (And not all in just trying to decipher it, either.. when I can pick up on things like the fact that he always writes lower-case r's in cursive... ehm.. ... ..*hides*) *pant* Not.. *pant* my day. I was running just a taaaad bit late, but as the mornign driver is always like two minutes late every morning (purposely, cos he's awesome like that), I figured I'd be ok. It was like, half a minute before the scheduled bustime, I was just getting my shoes on--- And the bus went by the house. *facepalm* So I sprinted outside, grabbing my coat, saw the bus stopped a short ways down the street, raaaaaaaaaaaaaaan and nearly fell once but sprinted.. And he didn't see me, pulled away while I was still about twenty feet back. Knowing the bus loops around another block before going up Temple to the campus, I walked as fast as I could toward Village Hall.. only, of course, I got hung up at the end of Eagle, the light never changes adn there's always lots of traffic on Main. Managed to get across, was walking up toward Barker Museum.. and saw the bus on the other side of the second traffic light, thankfully stopped at the light. So I spriiiiinted across, luckily a car on Day stopped, I raaaaan across the one side of the Commons, making it to the corner of Temple and Main, where the bus sat on the other side of the intersection, waaved reallyreally big so he'd be sure to see me, then walked a bit up the street so he could stop like, not in the middle of traffic. And, panting, chest paaained from the cold air, got on to find Bob, who'd spotted me across the square anyway. ...so much for trying not to get sicker. x_________x;;; 2.10.2005
O_O *shiiiivering* Never knock documentaries and oldstuff. I'm watching a thing I downloaded on some of the psychadelic stuff from the Ed Sullivan show, and ooooomg... Vanilla Fudge's cover of "You Keep Me Hangin' On" is.. I.. just.. holy fuck. It's ridiculous. *shiver of awesomeness* ... wait that's it?! they only showed like five things! *pouts* bah. *goes through all the other old videos stashed on comp* ^_^ I realise this is something I'm a little overdue in saying, but... Jim Morrison was one of THE most gorgeous men ever. mmmmnphhhh. 2.09.2005
wheeeeeeeeeee, so, *I* feel like complete shite today. x_____x; Slept soundly when I slept, but woke up a bunch of times, feeling vaguely paniced about what time it was each time. *sigh* Stuffy and dizzy and queasy and bloated and dead tired and blaaaaaaaah. At least it's all grey and sympathetic out there. ... ...only it's 30 degrees. >_< Not going to help. *deep breath* But all I need do is survive today.. if I can just get through today, the week's easy after this..... *puts on Sigur Rós' "Vidrar Vel Til Lofstarasa* *smiles gently, siiiiiighs* These boys........ <3 2.08.2005
Godfeckingdamnit, why do I go all stupid and shy when I've no reason to at all? >_______< In the meantime.. gah, anyone know of a good, readable, yet realistic-handwritten sort of script font? I have the worst time trying to find ones that I like... This project for my web class is due next week. Gonna be a busy weekend..... Feckdamnit, I realise they want to give us *something* for our $40, and I realise they have bandwidth concerns (probably more bandwidth concerns than I can comprehend O_o;; ), but---!!! Apologies on the linkage, apparently you need to be a member of u2.com in order to get the video for SYCMIOYO. *facepalm* Sorry sorry sorry... I will hunt down a copy of the video in full for mass distribution, and link here asap, I promise. :) (*nuzzles the Megs* lemme know if anyone on your flist mentions a link? *gigglesnuggles*) 2.07.2005
omFg.. Go to u2.com. Now. Watch the video for "Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own". I can't even--- It's amazing. I'm fully aware that the videos tend to be U2's weak point, but there are some... ...that are all the beauty a video can be. And this is one of them. (and on a fangirly note.. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BONO'S JACKET HAS *WINGS*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *flips the fuck out*) *giiiiggles* Ooooor I can just hang around and talk to Megs via lj comments for an hour or so... *G* AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! ok this is SOtotally NOT fair. I get up at 8am, feeling way too tired, get myself to campus, waiting out in the cold for the bus, get to the classroom... ...and see a big friendly yellow sheet of paper saying all of Steve Komp's classes are cancelled today. ... ...this'd be great, except I'm already up! and it's 9 in the morning and I don't have class again 'til 11 but my watch alarm doesn't seem to work anymore and idk if I can trust myself to nap and wake up in an hour and a half. *facepalm* great. *giggles, shaking head* Well, I can go poke around the library for books on local history while I'm here, at least... 2.06.2005
So, my weekend got better. :) Saturday, after loooots of sleep, got up and talked to Megs on aim a little, and we felt kindabetter, then, after dealing with an errant bus, ended up walking to campus to spend the afternoon watching Trigun with Tom and things. And..well, it was good. ^______^ (Always, soon's I stop thinking about these things, they happen. And always in the winter, wtf. *giggles, shrugs*) Played with Megs and all the babies in the bubble allll night, and it was also good. ^______^ Got lots more sleep, then took the bus to campus to do my laundry and watch a movie and hang out with Daf'n'Jeff, which was good as well. Yay for people. *giggles* ..'course, now I've a proposal to write up for my video project (which, again, I'm a bit nervous about), and two more self-portraits to draw, wheeeeeee.... x_x; |
