On another spazz-note:
Zahtar.

Middle-Eastern spice blend, oooooof.. *scrambles to find package* Toasted sesame seed, ground sumac, thyme, and oregano. Way more delicious than you'd guess from the short list. My package of it suggests using it with meatballs, veggies, in dips, and mixing it with olive oil to use on salads or pizza.
I'd been throwing it in with my rice a lot, and it's amazing. Also picks up nicely in curry. Was awesome on the crackers I baked the other day. Tonight, as I was cooking myself a mini-dinner, I decided to throw some in with some frozen veggies. The veggies went into a small frying pan with the leftovers I was re-heating, I threw some Zahtar and a small chunk of butter over them, and cooked just until hot, so they were still crisp but not toasted.
omFg were they delicious! It was a pretty bland frozen blend, but, they tasted amazing. Absolute miracle-worker, this stuff. Good thing this little pouch has so much in it.
(I have a 2oz bag of the stuff, Niblack brand, which Mom got for me at
Tadco - the ingredient warehouse back home in Rochester. They have a website, which is not terribly informative about the products, but, you can order things from them, which is a happiness.)
Current obsession:
the video for Kotoko's "Re-sublimity". It makes me want white hair.
Video aside, it's an awesome song, and *fantastic* for DDR'ing to. Happily, someone has made an *amazing* Stepmania track for it:
here, on bemanistyle. (You'll need to register to download things from them, but... if you're a Stepmania person, you undoubtedly already have.) Anyway I'm assuming the rest of the levels are awesome too, I've only been playing it on a 6, and it's one of the most fun, dance-able DDR songs I've got, I love it.
I would also like to highlight
Concerto, on Stepmania's site. Great song, great stepfile, it is alllll good.
The rest of my current favorites are ridiculously hyper Jpop things, all with ridiculously distracting videos, woo! (Luckily, they are all videos that *work*... I just deleted the videos to two of my anime tracks, since the video bogged down the steps and threw the whole thing off. boo.)
I am somewhat concerned about the sore throat that I've developed, oh, within the last hour and a half. I'm hoping it's just a side-effect of major congestion. Trying not to think about the fact that a co-worker was out with strep and a fever and god knows what last week.
It is FREAKING COLD around here. I have purposely avoided putting a hand on any of the radiators all day to see what kind of heat they're putting out, because I'm a bit suspicious that it's basically NONE. It was all the way up in the 20s today, I don't know why it's so frigid around here...
That's about it for news around here. My Noro scarf is like 95% done, but finishing has been held up by the fact that a) I ran out of dark red bits of yarn to do the border I'd wanted, so I'm being creative about it, and b) I have fringe to make, which will require me spreading lots and lots of little bits of yarn all over a large area.
Superbowl foods were largely successful - Tom did not enjoy his wings very much, but I certainly did. The cheese appetizers were, as I'd feared, a bit dry and bland, but they were great for dipping. I was going to bake some cookies today, but, being out of milk and eggs kind of put a damper on that. They went to a good cause though - I was randomly in the mood to make Tom chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast this morning, and I cannot even describe how happy they made him. :)
...and it only just now occurred to me that I'm extra-glad I did, since he was having a crappy night last night, which led to him saying something that he meant only as honesty but sounded (and felt) mean, so I was all upset and kind of angry at him for a good chunk of last night, and bleh. I'd totally forgotten about that. That's probably a good sign. :)
