So, since it turns out Target never got in the Monkees shirt I'd fallen so in love with (their supplier didn't ship it, and doesn't look like they're going to, NOOOOOO!!!1!!1!), I have a $10 gift card still to use there. I found tons of other amazingly great shirts. I've narrowed it down from like eight to three. I need help deciding. Cast your votes! Summer of Love! Pretty birds and musicy things! Vague U2 reference and Art Nouveau! 7.31.2006
Starting to put up the better of my photos from the fair the other day over on emulsion, remainer will be posted in the next day or so. (Currently posting something like six at a go.) Mel, you have got to go see, there was the cutest lil baby bunny EVER. <3 Meanwhile, if by some random chance you're ever curious about the random things filling up my last.fm list over there, check out my journal on their site, I think I'll keep my music-related spazzes and latest discoveries over there, rather than endlessly posting things here. (Though you will still be subjected to my random recommendations. Like the song I linked yesterday. Which you'd darn well better have gotten.) Spent a good long while nosing around there tonight, found a Swedish Music group, which I joined, and then proceeded to gank names of recommended bands from their forum posts. I found some good things, I am very excited. It also motivated me to go out and find a torrent of like EVERYTHING Kent has ever done, because holyfreakingcrap I adore them and can never get hold of a cd and need more. It is ridiculously horribly hot down here , though the sun's going down. ugh. *checks* Yeah it's like 83 still. Tomorrow it's getting up to like 95... VERYvery glad I don't have to ride to work in that. Haruna's coming tomorrow! She's coming back to Fredonia for a few weeks, having wowed Vermont with her awesome acting skillz this past month or so. *G* Not sure how long she'll be crashing here, but, for awhile, anyway. Grandparents are coming down Thursday afternoon for a visit, which will be nice as well. The apartment is going to feel so full this week, hehe. O_O! Holy crap someone commented on one of my journal entries on last.fm???!?! lmfaowtf. *darts off to go see what that is* 7.30.2006
My Personal Dna Report ^ That is one of the funnest surveys ever to take, it's very uniquely set up. Also pretty accurate, though I could've told you most of what it told me. Tom kept looking over my shoulder, and telling me he'd answered things exactly opposite what I did. *giggles* He wound up with 100% masculinity. I wound up with 100% femininity. Which I don't think is quite right, but there again, I've gotten far wimpier the past few years. sigh. Everyone needs to listen to THIS SONG btw. So addicting, hee. <3 (Props to Tom for finding, though we'll not get into *how* he found it...) Work had its interesting moments today. Mostly it was pretty quiet--- well, customer-wise, anyway, my co-workers more than made up for it. Crazy high school kids and parties and annoying each other. It.. mostly it was fine, but there were a few times I got a little frustrated, inasmuch as they were talking about how each other acted when trashed at this huge party last night, when old ladies came up to the counter and things. ^^; Things like that. But whatever. The interesting parts of today: 1) Me nearly being buried in an avalanche of boxes. It was a lil scary. I was in the downstairs back room, which is huge and has boxes stacked nearly to the ceiling. Most of these are on shelves, but not the seasonal things that get swapped in and out. The Christmas pile? Is a mountain. Very big, and very haphazard. There's so no more room to squeeze boxes in, but I had one last one to get in. I spotted this fake barrel filled with witches' brooms or something, which I figured should be moved anyway, as we're putting Hallowe'en stuff out now. It was a bit heavier than expected, and smacked into my lower leg, and hurt like fucking hell. But I moved that, and put my box in its place, pushing it over a little to get it closer in to the big main pile... And the end of the pile? A leaning tower of boxes that had been pushing physics a bit? Got pushed back by gravity. And tumbled noisily and dangerously down like maybe a foot away from me. O_o;;; It was rather scary. Thank God nothing hit me, but, it still shook me a good bit. I told one of the other kids working there (none of the "grown-ups" were in today, as Sundays tend to be quiet), and he said not to worry about it, I'd wanted to balance some of the other things a lil better so it was less dangerous, but he said not to - and he probably had a point, I most likely *would* have had things fall on me had I tried. But I did go back and pick up all that fell, and piled it a bit more stabley. 2) Crazy old lady! Well not really crazy, but... you know those random eccentricities people get when they age? Holy crap she has a million, and they're so random, it was really kinda cute and funny. *giggles* Totally made my day - but I'm really glad I was nearby when she came in, as I think it would've just frustrated anyone else. I thought it was amusing, and was trying like crazy to catch everything she said, as it's going to be fantastic fodder for a character in a story sometime. ;) "I'm a hundred years old, but only my eyes are bad." She was looking for fall napkins, and we unfortunately didn't have any in/on the floor yet. But she really wanted something for a dinner she has planned - plain colors wouldn't do, "my table is always very fancy", she has a hand-embroidered tablecloth she made when she was young, that's "very beautiful". There are always flowers in the house. I went back and brought up all the fall-ish napkin styles I could find... She doesn't like anything that flies - there were dragon flies on one napkin, butterflies on some others. Didn't want grapes. Didn't want anything "too modern" (which I'd somehow known before she told me, and had thus avoided some obvious ones), it hurts her eyes. Didn't want anything pink. The pansies were very spring. Said flowers would work well, so I brought up all of those I could find. Some were too modern. She couldn't have purple - "purple is the color of death". (She'd been to see Grant's Tomb as a young girl, and there had been purple fabric draped over the.. can't recall what she said, but I have an image of it draped over coffins, though maybe it was memorials.) Eventually we settled on a couple styles she was going to take with her, but she needed some dinner napkins (which are the ones folded rectangular - the square ones are luncheon napkins; this is a good thing for me to know actually)... We looked at some solids, but didn't have that style in the color she liked, so I went and grabbed some to patch the prints she'd gotten. At the register, she asked what the color in one was, she'd thought it was white but it was actually a light green. She will not have green on her table. She's not Irish. Can't use green. *can't help but giggle* Like I said, I think anyone else would've been annoyed, but I just thought it was really cute and fascinating, hearing all her reasons why on things. She made my day. The other thing that made my day: I stopped by WalMart on the way home, to pick up something I've been wanting for a week or two now: SUPER SQUISHY AMAZINGLY COMFY FLUFFY SLIPPERS!!!!1!1!1! My life is now complete. It is like walking on clouds. My poor exhausted feet are soooooo haaaaappy. <333 /end completely random post I got sent food for a survey. FREE FOOD!!! That is the greatest survey incentive ever. It came a few days ago, made it tonight. It was a boxed dinner thing, like a Hamburger Helper thing, only this was much better. :) It was... I don't think it's against the rules for me to mention the name, hee. Betty Crocker Cookbook Favorites, Chicken Marsala with Linguini. Not sure if it's actually on the market yet or not, though I kind of doubt it, it came in a white box (though the interior bags were designed actually quite prettily). It was very yummy, a bit more upscale than the usual boxed dinners. It came with a little bag of marsala wine to cook things in. *giggles* That amused me greatly. But I also liked that a lot, having the pasta and wine and other things you wouldn't use a whole package of in the recipe included. Granted I had to add a lot of chicken, but, we had some. So that one, I can recommend, though it defintely doesn't make the five servings it claimed to, heh. ^^; Well granted most people actually make side-dishes for dinner, but, when it's just Tom and I, we usually don't bother - this made both of us quite full. I know this is a rather unusual thing for me to spazz over, but, I just think this is the greatest thing ever, they sent me FREE FOOD!!! XD (Again, anyone interested in the survey-things, just let me know, I can refer you and get points, and also I know which sites are reliable and which are crap.) |
