U2's "Flower Child" could be a Nez song. Maybe a Davy song. But I think a quirky Nez song. Can't you hear it, like, along the lines of his '20s stuff or cowboy things? *giggles merrily* I am so in need of sleep it's retarded. 12.16.2004
So... Somehow missed the bus this morning - he said he came by but I was watching nearly five minutes early and waited ten minutes late.. ten minutes amidst 6+ inches of snow and the freezing cold, 8.30am... absolutely beautiful morning, but... So I went back inside, we called around, Josh's car was elsewhere (and I'm afraid I woke him up ^^; ), Britt couldn't find Laura's cell number and she wasn't answering on aim... by that point, the bus was due in about another ten minutes anyway, so I headed back into the cold again.. this time, I wasn't able to keep the cold out like I had before, I was freezing... Bus came by, a few minutes late... So I got to my Systems Languages and Protocols exam about forty minutes late, my professor's sitting at the desk looking at me.. "yeahh.. I live across town, and the bus didn't come by this morning." I've only missed class once, late once, have one of the highest grades in the class, I knew he'd not be upset with me.. he'd actually sent me an email, as he didn't have my phone number: subject: Where are you? Melissa, The test is being given at this moment. You are not here. Where are you? Tom Loughlin *giggles* Luckily, I still did really well, only missed two questions (despite the extreme lack of sleep I was going on), and think I did alright on the essays.. finished with twenty minutes to spare. Afterwards, had some time before the bus, so I popped down to the WilliC to grab some food, and also some blank greeting cards from the bookstore (as I've a few to give out down here, and forgot to bring my stash with me). Went back to the house, started studying while baking another batch of cookies for Christmas. They're these awesome raspberry-almond thumbprint cookies, they're soooo goood. Even if I had some issues with the icing on them. Ran around the house, fought with Britt's printer to get the cards printed before she left, got most of my study guide filled in, realised I'd hvae to get the bus over to campus at like 5 even though my exam's not 'til 6.30, cos of the schedule break. Around 3.30, I was *finally* able to lay down and take a nap, which I desperately needed. I've felt queasy for two days now, some disasterous combination of lack of sleep, odd eating habits, and stress, I suppose. Slept for about twenty minutes, woke up for a moment, then went back to sleep..... And I had the most disturbing of dreams... I was in another world, it wasn't my own, no-one knew me and I didn't know anyone or anything, I was stuck there and I couldn't get home.. I had a small bag I carried with me, with a few books, necklaces, small things that seemed to be meaningful.. really, it was like a video game in a lot of ways, but.. I was so upset, just wanting to get back to my world the whole time... So many short scenes, I can't remember the flow of them.. in someone's kitchen, a small child playing on the floor.. an elevator with triple doors, which moved back and forth at a terrifyingly rapid speed, shaking the platform I stood on, swaying dangerously, I couldn't figure out how to get only one to open so I could get in.. in another elevator, which tilted onto its back.. a cell phone call from one of the only things I can make sense of, the girl who got kicked off the fashion runway reality show Britt and I'd watched some of last night.. hang-gliding?.. In an airport? something similar at least, walking up to.. Dan, and maybe Laura? and Dan didn't know me.. they couldn't help me, something about needing to find my brother, who was stuck there as well, seeing where he'd come into this alternate world at, that might be a clue.. Only a few things were recognisable in that world, there was nothing I knew, only.. Pictures of Bono kept appearing, and I clung to those images, crying out with all my soul for him to help me... a series of huge beach towels (blankets stitched like the Monkees blanket Megs gave me?) strung on clotheslines over a beachfront, pictures of Bono, and Bono with Ali.. I was with someone who had sympathy for me, I kept pointing to the pictures of Bono, look that's someone I know, that's got to be a sign of something..... So lost and forlorn, desperate, soul aching and I had no idea how to get back... I woke up to my alarm, thinking it was morning, wondering if I could sleep a little more, thinking it had gone off before my watch alarm, looked at my watch... 4.54. The bus was coming by at 5.03. Rushed out of bed, still lost in the haze of the dream, slight pressure headache and queasy still.. grabbed my notes, dashed out to the kitchen, pulled on my coat and said such a hasty goodbye to Britt... Even on the bus, chatting with Bob (whom Britt and I went out to coffee with last night, it was cool..a little odd *laughs softly* but fun), I was still caught up in the dream... I'm still not back out of it, and I've got to study some more for this exam - I'm hovering right between an A and a B, I need to do well. what decade does your personality live in? remember when you wanted world peace and equality for all? quiz brought to you by lady interference, ltd *laughs softly* so some things don't change as much as one might think..... 12.14.2004
IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^__________________________________^ \0/ The loading screen comes up and the words go and the music plays and you click and the intro plays through with the music continuing and you click and the main part comes up with the new music!!!!!! Minor alignment tweaks to do, and need to investigate why it just skipped back to the beginning of the Adagio without playing all the way through first, and would REEEAAAAALLLLY like to get "Tide Water" to fade out instead of just STOP, but none of the scripts I've tried so far work and I can *barely* keep my eyes open and my neck's fecking killing me, so the sound-stop issue might just have to remain, actionscripting, especially when dealing with sound, it largely beyond me. But YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *wound run around in happy circles, except fears that stiffness from sitting here so long would cause more falling over than running* *siiiiighs heavily* Sound in Flash just never works nicely. bah. 4am, and I'm still working on this damn thing... should've known. But, then, I didn't exactly anticipate the program crashing *how* many times tonight? 5? 6? and every minute it's running even slower, though I've closed most-anything that'd be eating my system resources... *sighs* My poor tired Lawrence, I should really get him some RAM for Christmas, I work the darling so hard... Why does the sound work in the movie file just fine, but when I go to load the movie into another movie, there's suddenly no sound? x_x; *tries another way around doing this...* *tries to save a second copy of the file, so's not to hurt what was already done* O______________O *gets a string of errors on a shitload of effects in the file* >_________________< splendid... *sigh* back to work... 12.13.2004
gaaaaahhhhhhh so fecking much to dooooooo! apologies for the lack of online presence, was so busy up until, y'know, about that last post, crashed for a day, did mad shopping this weekend, and suddenly it's late Sunday night and I've got a day and a half to finish this flash project and I've spent all day on it and aaaaaugh! *breathes* luckily for what's left of my sanity, I've decided not to try to piece together my own remix of a few songs within the flash - it would've kicked ass, but I lack the proper software to do it within the time frame. I spent half an hour or so poking at just two clips, and trying to line things up was going to be maaaaddening, so I wisely gave up. and then spent just as long again, poking through my mp3 stash and ripping things from cd and listening to things and trying to sort out what would work. (a special thanks to Britt for having the perfect sort of music. a note to the rest of you: go here and check stuff out, it's a little out there, but very good - definitely get "Tide Water" by A Place For Parks <3) so I think I'm going with the afore-mentioned "Tide Water" for the intro, then a choral version of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" for the rest... but this is all subject to change in the next five minutes or fifteen hours. e_e; but I've got the main part completely functional at least, a few typos to fix and some minor alignments to adjust, but that's easy.. the intro is, well, the main original idea is DONE, that's what I've spent all night on.. but now I've another thing I want to add to it, and the coding is easy, the rest should just be typing in a bunch of words, but I'm sure something random'll come up to complicate things. x_x; putting it all together is going to take a bit of work, but luckily I did a test the other day, and I *think* I know how to make it all work, with the different parts and the sound and all. *crosses fingers* the one thing that's baffling me is the damn custom cursor. as far as I can tell I've got the coding right, it seems to make sense, and sometimes it works, but then most of the time? for some idiotic reason it offsets by like a quarter of the screen - like where your mouse actually is, is not where the cursor I made shows up. I have NO fecking clue why. x______x so the pretty little feather cursor may or may not happen.. I'd really like it to though, it'd add a lot to the thing. and it's pretty and good. *yaaaawns, rubs eyes blearily* my head still hurts. but I'm still up cos I was working on my flash a lot, and then Haruna imed me to look over her paper.. and we've been talking since, about all sorts of interesting things that only college students seem to be able to discuss so frankly. *giggles* but it's really good, we've found a few more things we have in common.. I'll sleep soon. really. |
