So this is what happened within like, five minutes of Erik being here...

*attempts to pry off the comma and/or right alt. key, in order to dislodge a small goop of soy sauce that got in there yesterday* ^^;;;

*a few minutes later:*
Ewwwwwwmg I forgot how sketchy it gets down between those keys.. *giiggles* And y'all thought it got bad between couch cushions? Try taking off a few keys and checking out the mess down there...

An article here on the Canadian Prime Minister wanting to make a national law allowing same-sex marriage...
Some who oppose the plan, primarily the main opposition Conservative Party, have suggested gay marriage could one day lead to the legalization of polygamy.
...y'know, I've heard that before, but HOW THE *FUCK* DO THEY FIGURE *THAT*?! there's absolutely *no* way you can draw the one from the other.

people aggrevate me. >_<;

Dear Melissa,

Thank you for contacting us regarding order number 23-18206/NY1. Your
refund in the amount of $19.50, for U2 Tribute - The Unforgettable Fire
, has been applied to your credit card. The credit was issued on
Thursday, January 27, 2005. Please allow 3-10 business days for the credit to
post to your account.

Since we have made a one time exception to our refund policy,
Ticketmaster is retaining your order-processing fee in the amount of $3.25.

*facepalm*

...now, what happened was, I was doing a dry-run before the pre-sale on Tuesday, and randomly went through tickets for this U2 tribute band, just cos it was the first thing I saw. My ordering info is already entered in Ticketmaster, but every step of the way, it told me your card will not be charged, so I continued on.
And then suddenly you will be billed for however much it was and I was like O____O!!!!! WTF?!!??!
So I e-mailed them, in spite of their no-cancellation policy, and explained the sitatuation. Cos it *DEFINITELY* was *their* fault.

Eh, at least I'm only out $3, not the whole $20... still though. Their damn fees added like $10+ to the already $150ish seats for NJ. bah.

eh I give up for tonight. *giggles* will try again later...

and here we go again... trying to get the bugs out of a new template. do bear with...

...

and I *PROMISE* to actually *finish* changing the layout this time. ^^;;;

*deep breath* There. That's my rant on this whole messy situation.

Really? It hasn't gotten me terribly down for the most part, at the moment it's got me rather upset...but more at how much it's going to tarnish U2 than anything else. So many people are going to get the wrong impression of such a wonderful, caring band...

But, yeah, now that I've got that unintended outpouring our of the way...

What I'd meant to post. *g*

While there is no shortage of fanwork depicting this disaster (the wonderful "Limbo", and the special edition of "Achtoon Baby")...
I've decided it's about time to get back to a certain sillyfic I left started and going nowhere.

Also, may I submit for your amusement, this.

XD

(right, real productive notes I took in class today.. *giiggles*)

So though we're far less worried about the public ticket sale, starting Monday... the news keeps getting worse and worse. *sighs heavily* There are people on ebay with 70-some GA tickets, when I don't think *any* of us could get GA (this includes both my little group of U2spazzes and everyone on Megs' friends list and most people on Wire, on top of that)... and now, to try and prevent the scalping, there's going to be a cap on how many tickets each person can buy, for the WHOLE tour (or, the first two legs, anyway, I suppose).. only FOUR apiece, total, in the UK. That's ridiculous. I understand how limited space is and how few shows and all, but.. Limit here is eight per person, so we're fine, but..
I'm really getting sad, this is so horrible...
And what makes it all the worse is that fans are flipping out all over the place and screaming about it, you've got people sending their membership cards back to u2.com, you've got so much public outcry and the papers and things are picking up on it and it's making our band look *terrible*.
We all *know* that they wouldn't do this even remotely intentionally, they're usually so anal about all the details, *especially* when it comes to their fans.. they've always taken such good care of us. I think.. I have a feeling it was just a really bad combination of different things. First the dates being pushed back and so many shows not happening cos of that delay, which I'm assuming still has a lot to do with the availability of venues.. Second, the fact that U2 has never handled the presale before, it's always been through Propaganda, and it was before such a majority of ticket-buyers were online. Third, the huge reputation U2 regained as having awesome concerts after the Elevation tour. Fourth.. I honestly think scalpers got trickier and made pretty concentrated attacks on this. By all accounts, this has been like the worst pre-sale ever, not just for U2. Oh yeah, and fifth? Ticketbastard. Sixth, U2.com not being able to handle the sudden surge of traffic and basically going down for an hour at least. Seventh, they left the presale open to people who'd gotten a membership only the night before. Eighth, we think it was a *really* small number of tickets in the presale...and there are like 90,000 members of U2.com. O_o;
..I mean, it was just so many things, all at once, many of which couldn't be foreseen.

I know not many people read this, but anyone who is and is after tickets.. please please PLEASE do *not* perpetuate the awful scalping that's happening, *don't* buy tickets on ebay.. it's one thing if someone has an extra they're trying to sell cos a friend suddenly couldn't make it, but when you see someone with 72 tickets..that's a scalper, and they're the reason we were all fucked over.

Will wonders never cease?
...WilliC sushi isn't so terrible. ^^;

I mean, y'know, it's not TEH AWESOMEST SUSHI EVAH!!1!!11 by any means (not that I'd know if it was, sushi's not like an obsession with me), but, it's edible, and even pleasantly edible. *giggles*

p.s. see that little weirdly-sculpted green blorb on the left? that is *so* wasabi. heeeeeeeeee. *giggles merrily* so many memories...

p.p.s. OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWWWWWWWW yeah that's wasabi!!! (one of the only things hot enough to actually make *me* suffer..)

All Megs could get was $150 seats for NJ.
I could get NOTHING for NYC.

André could get nothing of use for Boston, but a friend got him seats there, somehow.

This is *ridiculous*, the presale was gone *within five minutes*. U2.com wouldn't load at all until about ten minutes ago, they were nailed so hard... None of us had any sort of chance, thousands of people must've clicked at once, and your only hope was that your click lined up to the quickest servers and got to the right ones...

...*laughs faintly* have to admit, I'm impressed with ticketmaster's servers, to withstand that.

We'll have better chances when tickets go public, there'll be tons more tickets available, and fewer fanatics there the very *second* they're up. *keeps telling self this..*

I'm so sorry, Megs. :\

1.24.2005

My day has just been made, look what FINALLY came in the mail!

*does a happy dance* IT'S SO COOL! *laughs* I know it's small and inconsequential but this on top of all the U2ness going on? HEEEEEEEEEEE!

*dancing*

So, presale is tomorrow, Megs and I're planning on NYC and NJ, André is going to NYC with us (possibly NJ), other people are coming to NYC, it's going to be The Great Meeting of the U2spazzes and EEEEEEEEEEEE! it's going to be ridiculous. we're all going to be flipping the fuck out and it's going to be GREAT. ^_____________^

ALSO in U2news.. THEY'RE PLAYING THE GRAMMYS THIS YEAR WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?! ..we were TOTALLY *not* expecting this, but Vertigo's up for three awards (HTDAAB was released too late in the year, and'll be in the running next year), so they'll be there! and playing! and EEEE! February 13. Greenday is also playing. It's going to be gooood..

Which reminds me, I need to get downloading again, three of us have heard *of* Kings of Leon, but no-one knows any songs, and unless I'm mis-remembering things, they're the opening act for the tour.

It's REALLY fucking cold.

Slept through my alarm this morning, as those of you who saw my frustrated away message this morning already know.. bah. So I wound up getting to class twenty minutes late, and as it was the first time that class'd met, everyone was filtering out the door as I got there. x_x; Luckily, the professor was still there, making suggestions on what external harddrives we should get for the class... (ehhhhh more money that needs spent?!)

On the bright side, when I woke up and thought I still had a TINY chance of catching the bus I'd meant to, I discovered that I can, in fact, be ready and out the door in five minutes in the morning. (Unshowered and looking like shit, but.. ^^; )

Classes so far are looking overall pretty fair.. I have familiar faces in a few, which is a very, very good thing for me. "Interactivity for the Web" is going to be THE coolest class ever, it's mostly people I know, the newest Media Arts prof., the one did the coolest VAP presentation with all the awesome projects (see his project site..beware loading time of DOOM!), and our first project is going to be making a website where we alter our identities. :D heeee.

"Sight, Sound, and Vision" is going to be.. well, at first I thought it was going to be very dry, but now I'm seeing that the professor is.. a bit odd. He seems like a stoner. *giggles* idek. Potential for it to be amusing, but so far he seems a bit scattered in his lectures, so we'll see. However, again there are people I know in
there, so it's all good. *g*

This "Introduction to Experimental Video"..scares the shit out of me. This's the class I was late to this morning, my advisor's teaching it.. But, y'know, it's *video*! I don't know *anything* about video, I'm so doomed. And for projects we're apparently taking equipment out from the Media stash, and.. and I'm really scared. But it *is* a 100-level, so it shouldn't be as bad as it sounds right now.

"Life Drawing" also scares me. Our prof actually wasn't in today, so someone who's in the second part of the course gave us a general run-down and passed around syllabi.. I've a terrible feeling my big package of charcoal is at home. >_<; But I've a ton of supplies to buy anyway.. and aaaaarg I need to buy another huuuuge sketchbook! the 24"x36" newsprint agaaaaain ehhhhhhhh! *pouts* We'd *better* have some place to stash them in that room, cos there's no way I can possibly lug that to and from campus and drag it around all day twice a week... But yeah, apparently the prof is really strict, and not always so gentle with his corrections on what we're doing and all. *whimpers* I know right now I'm going to get a LOT out of this class, but at the same time... I have a VERY, very fragile ego. This does not bode well for me. ^^; Also, there's a good deal of extra time that needs to be put into homework and things..meh.

My "Philosophy of Religion" class is only on Tuesdays, so won't know how that's going to go 'til tomorrow.. but Philosophy's usually a fair enough mental challenge, this's a 400-level so I'm a little scared, but it's Tuggy whom I've heard enough good things about that I think I'll be alright.

*reverently takes the U2.com membership keyring-thing out of its plastic* heeeeee... *________* So preeetty... and it's all metal! it's so cool. So shiny and pretty...and there's NO way this is getting put beside keys and things and subjected to the elements. *giggles* Lessee if it'll fit inside my little card-thing.. YAY! it does!!!

I feel unfathomably cool right now. Or maybe just really U2geeky. Either's a very, very good thing. ^_______________^

TOUR DATES WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!? ..very small so far, only 13 dates in the US. BUT, fear not, they'll HAVE to be back for another leg of the tour. ^_________^

*crosses fingers they'll do pre-sale again for later legs, as I'm sure they will*

*discussing desirable venues with Megs* Definitely NYC, but they haven't announced additional dates there yet, only the one night so far, so that's all we can buy tickets for right off.. possibly NJ, cos the venue's not far from Megs. Jan. 31 is when tickets go on sale for NYC, for anyone interested. ^________^ $49.9-something for GA.. a little more than last time, unfortunately. *sighs* And it was too high then... but it'll be more than worth it, omg. <3

*layout for the opening night, at least*

Tour dates are announced tomorrow.
Pre-sale tickets (for members of u2.com) go on sale Tuesday.

*squirms anxiously*
