Oh curse you Alexei Pajitnov.

*tears away from tetris and goes the feck to bed*

10.01.2004

C'mon, I know y'all know how much system idle processes are running.. put it to good use. ^_^

(if it eats up too much ram and slows things up a lot, I'll be sure to let y'all know, cos if anyone's gonna run into trouble, it'd be me. *g*)

eee! *laughs* and here's the pseudo-cover that had people flipping out.. oh but it's cute. ^______^
Lar looks cranky. *giggles*
O_O
EDGE.
hfjdksbf;dsk
good LORD. Edge = sex. gooooodnesssssss....

*quickly passes him to Megs before I..well, either do something, or make an arse of myself*

*giggles merrily*
And now I don't feel like such a n00b - Interference couldn't do any better on deciphering certain parts of "Vertigo" than I could.
..and they weren't even sure on the second line of the chorus initially. *g*

ooo but they got the last bit of the second verse, yay. *laughs* I wasn't quite sure. I adore Bono, endlessly, but enunciation never was his strong point. (..that, and his lyrics are just off enough that you can't always guess.. I mean, "see the bedouin fires at night"? and "lost in the maze of her imagination", the pronounciation on that was just dreadful, I never *did* get that one 'til I had the official lyrics in front of me I don't think. *giggles*)

..it's a damn good thing I'm not sharing a room anymore, as it is playing "Vertigo" for over an hour straight would piss people off if Meghan'n'Justin weren't shut away in Meghan's room, and Britt didn't have her own music cranked 24/7. ^^; But the song's like fecking crack, yo. *giggles*

fhdsjk;bfdsjbfj;dsk

and that Bono line STILL kills me omFg. "just give me what I want, and no-one gets *breathygaspyguuuh* hurt.."
mmph. itunes says I've played it 60 times now, and I'm sure I played it at least 30 or 40 times on winamp. and STILL every time I hear that part I get all twingy. guh.

gooooodness, far too much excitement for lil me tonight. *g*

- I found U2 bit torrents. <3 ..not that many people seem to be on, it's really going to take me a week to get anything, but holy feck is there a lot of video, it's allll good.

- I *knew* something had to've taken the place of u2bloodredsky in the realm of U2 bootleg downloads...and something did. u2bloodredskyhub. which, unfortunately, is ridiculously more complicated, but it's so going to be worth it because do you know what these people *have*?

FIVE FECKING TERRABYTES OF U2 BOOTLEGS.
So all of this registering for their forums and downloading and learning a whole entire new program (which fortunately looks like a cross between an ftp server and irc in terms of interface, so maybe I'll figure it out) and waiting a few days for them to sign me up for the sharing-thing and trying to figure out what the hell information I'm supposed to give them.. oh my goodness is this ever going to be worth it.
^__________________________^

- on a related note, it was on the afore-mentioned site that I learned that THERE *IS* A BOOTLEG OF THE ROCHESTER '87 SHOW!!!! \0\  /0/  \0\  /0/ I really *had* begun to lose hope, cos I mean, bloodredsky'd had nearly *everything*, esp. from JT tours on, but they never had Rochester.. but someone on the forums at bloodredskyhub asked if anyone had it to share - they had three songs from it already, and had seen the bootleg for sale on a site I've yet to check out... omfg I'm so excited, I've literally been looking for this show for *years*. ^_________^ Cos this's the one my parents went to, *and* it was the last time they played Rochester (I think), and, well, I *almost* went to it *giggles* except that I was only three years old at the time.

- I found (via linkage on one of the interference forums) that song Edge did for the new Batman cartoon! \0/ go here, poke around on that lil bat-logo to find the 'download mp3' option. well and they play it in the lil preview video clip, but it's lower quality. the cartoon itself doesn't look like anything special, pretty similar to most of the rest of what's out there right now, but holy *fuck* does the song kick ass. Edge = supergenius. <3 (It's only just over a minute long, but this just meant that I listened to it 50 times in a row instead of the maybe 25 times I would've otherwise. *g*)

- getting away from U2 for *just* a moment, the first round of presidential debates were on tonight, and that's always interesting...
and I still have no idea who I'm voting for, as Laur pointed out in her away message, it really is down to a 'lesser of two evils' thing again, and idek, cos I have some issues with both of them. meh.
but it's always amusing to watch britty flipping out. *giggles*
and it was funny too cos we're sitting there critiquing all over the place - and yes, even the colours of their ties (this is what happens after we took language in society last semester). mom pointed out that red = power colour, but I'm sorry, it just made Kerry look demonic. like it picked up on his cheekbones, then add that to the fact that he was generally on the offensive to begin with (as I s'pose he had to be), and.. idek. *giggles* Bush was all calming in the blue, but it wasn't a laid-back blue tie, it had funky lil patterns on it. And yeah Bush floundered some, but I'm sorry, that *is* a lot of thinking on your feet, I know *I'd* get lost.. Kerry missed on points too, they *both* talked in circles which drove Britty and I absolutely fecking nuts..

- in other non-U2 news, it would appear Daf and I're going to Alfred on Saturday. *G* which'll work out nicely because Laur's having a ddr party and I've not played in far too long. ^_____^ dunno yet if we're staying over 'til Sunday.. your call, Daffy, you're the one driving. *g* and I know most people besides me usually have hw and things.

- and back to U2 news cos it's just that happy right now. well, except for the title of the new album. *facepalm, groans* Why will they not let Larry have a say, this is going to look DREADFUL on t-shirts, and this's *TWO* ridiculously long titles in a row. and this one doesn't even abbreviate nicely. atyclb looks cool. htdaab doesn't. at all.
hot dab.
*giggles*
I'm sorry, that's just all I'm going to be able to think of it as, it's retarded.

- but the good news. *G* from Billboard.com, via Interference.com:

Just one week after hitting radio, and a little more than a month before hitting store shelves, U2 single "Vertigo" has already ranked on Billboard's charts. The song debuted at No. 46 on the "Hot 100" and No. 18 on the "Modern Rock" chart.

Both rankings are based entirely on airplay, so be sure to call or e-mail your local radio stations and ask them to keep playing "Vertigo."

^___________________^ score, yo. <3

I'M BAAAAACK!!!!!!

again.

Internet guy came by today and fixed things - he poked around some, and I was all looking over his shoulder and asking all sorts of questions cos I want to know how to fix things. *giggles* In the end though, he ended up replacing the router, then putting in a different program to deal with the wireless network cos windows = a pain in the ass, as usual.

So in like an hour, WE HAD INTERNET AGAIN YAAAAAAAY! \0/

happy, happy day. <3

9.28.2004

heeeeee I'm getting a new toooooy. ^_______________^

..but I really do actually need one of these, cos I'm gonna be working between the computers in the media arts lab and on my own, my cd burner's busted, files'll be too big for disks (and disks won't work between Lawrence and apples anyway), and I have no big giant boomspeed account anymore to fling things into.

and anyway, these lil buggers so totally kick ass. 256mbs on my keychain, yo.

Hey, Laur, y'know that bus? I asked about it, and uhm..
From here, it stops in I think Buffalo and Rochester, then goes to Hornell.
With like, an 8 hour layover in one place, and a 10 hour layover in another.

...this doesn't look like it's going to work so well. ^^;

*whimpers*
STILL no internet...called the roadrunner people today, and after suffering through commercial-ridden cheesy hold music, then spending like ten minutes trying to have them figure out how I was... they told me to reset the router, which I already did (at least I think - damn thing hasn't a reset button on it cos it's weird, but I reset the connection on the computer), then they're like, well at this point we're going to have to send someone over.
*groans*
So tomorrow at like 5pm they're sending someone our way.. hopefully we're good from there.

*scowl of DOOM*
My internet at home is AGAIN being retarded... rather, it seems to be the network this time, but I can't figure out what to do with it, and it's bad. *sighs* So if I'm not online again for a bit, don't be surprised... blah. >_<;

..bad enough I'm missing Megs being here, now my one lifeline to her gets severed again. *sends huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs*

(being on at the same time and replying to each others' lj comments is fun though. *giggles and snuggles*)

In other news, Laur? I don't know if I can make it this weekend - I have VAP on Friday night, and if I don't go I'm like, uber-doomed, I'm only allowed to miss one and I have to write a ridiculously long research paper to make up that one.
Next weekend it's on Thursday night though, so I'd be able to leave after that... mentioned it to Daf, she wasn't sure if she could or not, but we'll see. In any event, as I'm getting out of class early now I'm going to head over and ask after this bus. ^_^

9.26.2004

Megs, darling... I miss you already. Thank you so much for everything this weekend, you're such a sweetheart and so much fun and just--- I can't say the half of it here, but you know.. everything, thank you dear.. *huuuuuuggles*

So we had a wonderful fall break, walking around town and having a picnic dinner in the cemetary, watching The Slash Concert (U2, Dancing Zoo bootleg, Stockholm '92 *G*) and listening to The Naked Interview (U2, Dave Fanning's radio show, '87), watching Head and Monkees and spazzing, hearing VERTIGO!!! for the first time EVER (a million spazzy glomps to Megs' friend Andre for emailing it ^________^) and flipping out and squeeling and dancing around like the spazzy fangirls we are, and watching Labryinth and Red Rocks and spazzing, and baking all sorts of yummy things and eating brownie batter and just everything. <3

Hope your flight went well, thank Mike again for me for letting me steal you away for a few days.. and I'll see you in January, darlin'~ ^_^ *blows kisses* You're the best, ever.
