OH! But the real news of the day - Tom's Venus fly trap CAUGHT A BUG! omg it's so gross. There's what looks to be a now-dead spider half hanging out of one of the little mouths. I'm not sure if it's actually being consumed or not, inasmuch as the mouth isn't exactly closed, but, it is a spider (one of the creepy little color-changing ones), and it's in the plant's mouth. Oh it's so gross.

(But I'm happy to see it not only cleaning bugs out of my apartment, but eating, and hopefully being happy. I did some more research on keeping the things happy today, because I really have no clue. I'm a little concerned that maybe I should be helping lure bugs toward it so it gets its nutrients? That's so gross. Tom can do that, it's his freaking plant. And the reason we had a mini-swarm of fruit flies in here was because heeee didn't take out the garbage when he should have. So, he can take care of it. Oh god so gross!!!)

After a few semi-failed attempts at drawing a bit (failed because the little drawings looked terrible, successful because it cemented the idea that I still freaking love the malleability of pastels), and undoubtedly as a way to feel I accomplished something even though I'm ignoring the stack of dirty dishes and my generally messy apartment, I decided to finish typing my great-big-story-of-violence-and-awesomeness.

It's occurred to me that casually referring to it as "the rape story" proooooobably isn't the best idea. But it's also the thunderstorm story - so much so that I may snatch my title from T.S. Eliot ("What the Thunder Said", which is the final portion of "The Wasteland"). Only I'm worried it might be overkill.

And it occurs to me *now* that I really probably don't want to be giving away too much of my story...but I think there's going to be a good chunk of time between now and when I finally get this one online, you'll forget a bit won't you? Even as I'm typing, I'm finding things like discrepancy in a character's demeanor, and, uh, that's probably something that needs some hefty working-on. Also I'm not sure that I'm handling my repetitions of ideas properly. And I need to work on my scenes of violence, because right now it's like, someone's flung to the ground, then yanked roughly back up, then flung back down, then yanked back up.. rather ridiculously so. *giggles* So I'm fixing some as I type, but there's still things that'll need re-worded, and my bits where his state of mind is all emotional and irrational and distraught, I need to make sure make sense.

...not that that sentence even did. So you see my trouble.

But this sucker is like 12 handwritten (college-ruled) pages front and back. Which is a freaking behemoth of a story for me - and I'll only add to it in the editing stages.

Only I occasionally notice that I twisted something seriously out of whack in one wrist. Which is prooooobably not so good when you're doing this much typing.

My hair is in pigtails today (for the first time in probably ever) and I'm finding it endlessly entertaining. Tom looked quite confused when he came home for lunch, bwahaha. They're all short and twirly and bouncy.

Quite, in fact, like actual pig tails, now that I think of it. *collapses*

I'm still taking surveys quite frequently (it's good pocket money, and occasional cds and whatever - and I've currently got a test package of acne facewipe things from Neutrogena that I'm quite enjoying), and last night I ran into a rather odd one - asking my opinions on female empowerment, apparently, asking me what fictional female characters I found empowering and things...I kept drawing blanks, it was probably pretty sad. But one of the first things they asked was "How would you define empowerment?"

My answer: "My boyfriend, who's laying on the couch watching tv, just told me to go get him another slice of pizza. It's probably the opposite of that."

Tom lost it. I love it when I can make him laugh. (And, I figure, they always get all the same sorts of answers on these surveys - so I keep their job interesting whenever I can, being oddly honest when they're expecting canned answers.)

Alright enough procrastinating - back to typing, and, gaaahhhh, probably dishes soon. I really should have picked up some groceries today, but it's chilly out and I'm all spaced out (as I'm sure you've noticed by now), and I just really don't feel like going out. I hope I have enough rice left to make some dinner, we're finally at the bottom of another 10lb bag. XD

Silly little ridiculous boy needs to learn to trust my judgement when it comes to food. Eating two burgers at Burger King WILL make your tummy hurt. Fruits and veggies really ARE good for you. This IS very good and you enjoyed it.

Boys.

It's freaking hot out, even making pasta salad was far too much effort and heat. NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING! I'm totally psyched to still be wearing t-shirts and no jacket. But it seems to have sapped my energy a bit more than planned. I did make it to the post office though, and treated myself to a visit to the antique store. :) I found two lovely little postcards and a stereoscope slide I liked (there's always tons of them there, which still strikes me as unusual), a really gorgeous old illustration of a little girl with holly in her hair, which I'll have to find a frame for I think, and a very pretty little handkerchief, covered in light blue embroidered flowers. (It made me think of the flower-covered kerchief in a few of the BtD stories. <3) They also had this stunning little mini folding screen, with two large Asian paintings on it, which I totally fell in love with...only it was $125. ha. Oh well. I have pretty little pictures to use as drawing/writing inspiration for my Phistos.

Blaaaaahhhhh I don't want to get up in the morning. Tom needs to be at work at 7, me at 9, therefore I get up at 6 along with him. Which works out well because then I have time to hang around Tim Horton's and slowly wake up and have a bit of breakfast, and it's such a fantastically productive writing-time for me. BUT, still not so keen on the early wake-up. Heat's making me drowsy enough that maybe I'll fall asleep early. :)

However, now that I have a $5 in my possession at last, I can do laundry! I've been putting it off for days and days and it's ridiculous. (The apartment complex's machines don't take money directly, they take money from a little plastic card. The card machine will only let you pop in $5, $10, and $20 bills to put money on said card. PAIN IN THE BUTT omfg.)

New story up on Amaranth and Jasmine! Fuchsia (a second) - probably a provisional title again, I'm so bad at them. But it's one that I'm very much in love with, though I'm not entirely sure why. It's quite pretty though. In sending a couple short paragraphs to Megs (for help on a line that was stumping me - thank you agaaaain!), I read them over, and something in the change of font and location let me see them a little more objectively, and I was like, O_O oooooo that's pretty! ^_________^ So I'm pretty happy with this one. It has very pretty images, and I'm kind of sad to let it go. But I have a sketch of the girl, and this will undoubtedly be one I do a drawing of - I do have several drawings planned, which might be my next project, when the writing slows down a bit, like it seems to be doing at the moment but good lord who knows. *giggles*

My system's so confused, I woke up at 8 because I had to go to the bathroom, and my body didn't really want to go back to sleep after that, though I should have slept 'til about 9. It's only 10.30 and I've already finished my email, and posted the story--- ooo and my iPod's finished charging! So I suppose I'll take a shower and see if that wakes me up. I'm planning on actually heading out awhile today - I had Sunday off but spent most of it lazing around the house, fighting with some software and baking cookies and whatever, and I'd really like to get out today, as I'm sure we're seeing about the last of the lovely summer weather. I'm going to miss it so much. (California's sounding good again, heh.) I haven't really decided what I want to do, but I do need to drop by the post office (Kellie! I got your money order! - surprisingly good timing, as it always seems to be), and.. beyond that I haven't decided. I kind of want to just ride my bike out into the middle of nowhere.

But nothing's happening 'til after lunch, anyway. I have a shower to take, and Tom will be back for lunch at 11 or 12. :)

Ohhhhh, thank you bittorrent! Guess who now has Darkwing Duck. \0/ (Well, the first handful of episodes anyway - but the rest are available.) I haven't seen this in yeeeeaaars and it's weird how much I remember, I must've watched it more than I thought.

...the oooonly downside is that, again, I'm reminded of how few American voice actors there are. Everyone's voice is familiar, and I'm going nuts trying to place them.

But it's highly entertaining and I am much amused.

Also thanks to bittorent I have the ability to convert aaaaanything into a form to watch on my iPod. \0/ again! So I have Jem and Darkwing Duck and a smattering of other randomness, all in portable form. I can sit out on the back porch and bask in sunlight and watch in complete happiness.

omfg I give up, the guy who did Darkwing's voice has done 47382907432 other ones... so I guess that's why I know it though I can't place where from. Could be Ninja Turtles, could be Batman, could be-- BONKERS! That might be it.
Or any other cartoon I've seen in my life, his credits go back to 1984 and it's a damn long list. Launchpad I'm probably recognizing from the Lego Island game, ha. And little duck chickie I'm recognizing from Rugrats. OMG TRAIN NEW VOICE ACTORS PEOPLE. The issue's even more acute with dubs of anime...

I also have Silverhawks downloading, my memories of which are limited to a commercial (emblazoned on my memory due to being on I think my Danger Mouse tape), and some neighbor back on Reddick Lane having one of the action figures. Wonder if seeing the show will bring back anything more..?

WHICH REMINDS ME OMFG!!! DANGER MOUSE HAS MADE IT BACK TO THE US!!!!!!!! When Tom and I were at the mall, the day I bought my Aja, I spotted dvds!!! Like the whole set! EVERY episode! On dvd! Not imported!!! At whatever music/movie store it is that's at the Galleria, as well as at Borders. EEEEEE! So that's definitely up on my wishlists. Though it was more than I could manage at the time for the box set... I don't even care whatever it was it'd be worth it. <333

Ok time for more Darkwing. And I need to bake more cookies. I made a batch a week ago, they were chocolate cookies with those little square caramels in the middle. So, yeah, they disappeared pretty instantly. (Not that it helped that I accidentally overcooked one of the two batches, and all the caramel leaked onto the cookie sheet to become, uh, over-caramelized.) Trying out Maple Snickerdoodles today, though I'll have to fake the maple sugar. Yummy though.
